  • Integration of security systems and advanced fencing solutions provide a competitive edge in the market today.

Early Forms of Commercial Fencing

Early forms of commercial fencing can be traced back to ancient civilizations. In those times, people used various materials and techniques to create boundaries and protect their property. The earliest materials used for fencing included wood, stone, and even thorny plants. These materials were readily available and allowed for the construction of simple yet effective barriers. Ancient techniques such as interweaving branches or stacking stones were used to create sturdy and durable fences. These early forms of fencing served multiple purposes, not only providing security but also marking territories and establishing a sense of belonging within the community.

Transitioning into the medieval and renaissance era, fencing techniques evolved to incorporate more refined and specialized methods. The development of swords and other weapons led to the rise of fencing as a martial art. Fencing schools emerged, teaching swordsmanship to nobility and aspiring warriors. Fencing became not only a means of protection but also a symbol of status and skill. The techniques developed during this era laid the foundation for the modern sport of fencing that we know today.

The transition from ancient to medieval and renaissance era fencing marks a significant shift in the purpose and techniques of commercial fencing.

Medieval and Renaissance Era Fencing

During the Medieval and Renaissance eras, fencing techniques were refined and became more formalized. Knights and swords became synonymous with chivalry and honor. Aspiring fencers sought to master the art of swordplay, not only for self-defense but also to uphold their noble status.

If you are intrigued by the rich history of fencing, here are some fascinating facts to pique your interest:

  • Knights trained rigorously to perfect their swordsmanship skills, recognizing the importance of combat proficiency.
  • Fencing schools emerged, offering structured training and teaching the principles of dueling etiquette.
  • The rapier, a slender and agile sword, gained popularity among the elite, requiring a different set of techniques compared to the heavier weapons used in battle.
  • Fencing masters rose to prominence, sharing their expertise through written treatises that outlined the fundamentals of sword fighting.
  • Dueling became an accepted practice among nobles, following a code of conduct that emphasized honor and fairness.

As the Medieval and Renaissance eras gave way to the Industrial Revolution, the art of fencing underwent significant changes. Now, let’s explore the impact of this transformative period on the rise of modern fencing.

Industrial Revolution and the Rise of Modern Fencing

When it comes to the history of fencing, one cannot ignore the pivotal role played by the introduction of wire fencing during the Industrial Revolution.

Wire fencing revolutionized the way agriculture and ranching were conducted, providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for enclosing land and protecting livestock.

This innovation not only increased productivity and profitability in these industries but also dramatically transformed the landscape of rural areas, marking a significant turning point in the history of fencing.

The Introduction of Wire Fencing

Although wire fencing revolutionized the commercial fencing industry, its initial reception was met with skepticism. However, as people began to recognize its numerous benefits, wire fencing quickly gained popularity and became an essential part of property boundaries.

Here are a few reasons why wire fencing has become so widely used:

  1. Evolution of wire materials in fencing: The development of stronger and more durable wire materials, such as galvanized steel, increased the longevity and effectiveness of wire fences.

  2. Impact of wire fencing on property boundaries: Wire fencing provided a cost-effective solution for marking property boundaries and keeping livestock secure. It offered a clear demarcation while still allowing visibility.

  3. Ease of installation and maintenance: Wire fencing is relatively easy to install and requires minimal maintenance, making it a convenient choice for property owners.

  4. Versatility and adaptability: Wire fencing can be customized to suit various needs, whether it’s keeping animals in or out, or providing security and privacy.

As wire fencing gained acceptance, its use expanded beyond commercial properties and into agriculture and ranching.

Fencing in Agriculture and Ranching

Wire fencing has become an essential tool in agriculture and ranching due to its versatility and effectiveness in securing livestock. Whether you’re a farmer looking to protect your crops from hungry animals or a rancher needing to contain your cattle, wire fencing provides the solution you need.

With its durable construction and ability to withstand harsh weather conditions, it offers reliable protection for your agricultural enclosures. Not only does wire fencing keep your livestock safely contained, but it also helps prevent them from wandering onto neighboring properties, minimizing conflicts with other farmers.

By investing in wire fencing, you can have peace of mind knowing that your animals are secure and your livelihood is protected.

Now, let’s explore the exciting innovations in commercial fencing that have revolutionized the industry.

Innovations in Commercial Fencing

To stay ahead in the commercial fencing industry, you should consider the latest innovations that can improve your business. Advancements in technology have had a significant impact on security, making it essential for you to stay updated with the latest trends. With the rapid progress in technology, traditional fencing methods are no longer enough to protect your property and assets.

One key innovation in commercial fencing is the integration of security systems. By combining fences with advanced surveillance cameras, motion detectors, and access control systems, you can create a comprehensive security solution. These systems not only deter potential trespassers but also provide you with real-time alerts and video footage, enhancing the overall safety of your premises.

Another advancement is the use of stronger and more durable materials. Modern-day commercial fences are built to withstand extreme weather conditions, vandalism, and attempted breaches. By investing in high-quality materials, you can ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your fencing system, saving you time and money in the long run.

Incorporating these innovations into your business can give you a competitive edge in the market. Customers are increasingly concerned about the security of their properties, and by offering advanced fencing solutions, you can provide them with the peace of mind they desire.

Transitioning into the importance of commercial fencing today, it is clear that these innovations have revolutionized the industry. From enhancing security to providing long-lasting solutions, commercial fencing plays a crucial role in protecting properties and assets.

Importance of Commercial Fencing Today

Nowadays, it’s crucial for businesses to prioritize the security of their properties and assets by investing in advanced fencing solutions. By implementing effective security measures, your business can reap a multitude of benefits.

Here are four reasons why commercial fencing is of utmost importance:

  1. Protection: A sturdy fence acts as a physical barrier, deterring potential intruders and safeguarding your premises. It creates a sense of boundary, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access your property.

  2. Privacy: Commercial fencing provides a layer of privacy, shielding your business activities from prying eyes. It helps maintain confidentiality and prevents sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.

  3. Visual Appeal: A well-designed fence enhances the aesthetic appeal of your business property, making it more inviting to customers and clients. It adds a touch of professionalism and can differentiate your business from competitors.

  4. Liability Reduction: By securing your property with a robust fence, you minimize the risk of accidents and potential lawsuits. A fence can prevent unauthorized access to hazardous areas, ensuring the safety of both employees and visitors.

Investing in advanced commercial fencing solutions not only protects your assets but also fosters a sense of belonging and security within your business community. Prioritize the security of your property today and enjoy the numerous benefits it brings.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as you reflect on the history of commercial fencing, you can see its evolution is akin to a majestic oak tree.

Starting as humble wooden barriers, it grew tall and strong during the medieval era, providing protection like the sturdy trunk.

With the industrial revolution, it branched out into new materials and designs, adapting to the changing times.

Today, commercial fencing stands tall as a guardian, safeguarding businesses and symbolizing progress.

The service and the work that was done was exceptional. We needed to replace three very old (and very heavy) garage doors in a home that was built in 1960. There were a number of challenges along the way and each one was met professionally and in a timely manner. Lisa was an excellent communicator and highly responsive. Kevin did an extraordinary job with a fairly involved installation. His 'can do' attitude was very refreshing and reassuring. As noted, the final result was terrific. The pricing was VERY reasonable and very fair. The install was completed two days ago and I have already received compliments from the neighbors!

On Oct. 31 my electric gate stopped working and I called Alpha Gate and Door and talked to Lisa. She was great and based on my symptoms said she thought it was the battery and she would send Kealan out the next day. He came and replaced the battery with a 12 v 55ah battery. I asked him to rehang my reflector light on my neighbors new fence so the motion sensor would work. It had worked fine prior to that being taken down. He did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. He rewired it and it worked once and he left. The next day I noticed the sensor was not working but I didn’t really care because my dog is too small to trigger it. I was charged $448 -$169 for the service call, $249 for the battery and $30 to rewire the sensor. I work exclusively from home as an attorney and never even use the gate during the week. A few weeks later the gate stopped operation completely and I called on Dec. 6. Lisa said she would send Kealan out. He called me and I said the gate would not open at all, the sensor was not working and the sensor was making a nonstop buzzing noise. He arrived fairly late in the day and I saw him pull into my driveway but he did not come to my door and went straight to the gate. I immediately went out there and I saw when he opened the cover that the battery charger lights were not on. He was in a very bad mood and starting ripping the battery out and said I needed a new battery. I said I guess it was because the battery charger wasn’t plugged in. I was not mad about it because that can happen to anyone. He got really mad at that point, I guess because I knew what had happened. He demanded to know whether I had unplugged it, grabbed a huge battery that would not even fit in my unit, then declared the charger had “allegedly” not been plugged in. As he was trying to force the battery in and was slamming everything around, I asked him if he had a smaller battery. He said no, it was whomever installed my gate opener’s fault because the antenna was on the left and they were usually on the right. He continued to try to force it but could not get the cover on. So he gave up and said he would come back Monday with a smaller battery. I assumed the sensor was not working because the battery had died. I heard nothing from anyone the following Monday and had had it so I called Lisa and yelled and told her the way Kealan had behaved and when was the battery actually going to be installed. She said she would talk to Kealan and I said do you have anybody else who is not a jackass who could come instead. She said she would investigate and call me back. She never called me back and apparently the next day around lunch Kealan snuck onto my property, did not tell me he was there, and put in another battery and texted me the gate was now working. I went outside to try it and the remote was not working at all. I have programmed remotes many times (I have done a lot of products liability work and handled cases with complex machinery failures and deposed a lot of engineers so I am not unfamiliar with this type of equipment) and checked it and the receiver was getting the signal from the transmitter but the control board was not opening the gate.So I called Lisa, explained he had come but not told me he was there, and that the remote was not opening the gate. I also apologized for yelling at her the day before because it was not her fault. She said she would tell him. After that call I remembered there is a reset button on the Patriot control board so I went out and pushed it and that caused the remote to work so I called Lisa and said it was working. The new battery is smaller than the one he had originally put in and retails for about $95. The motion sensor still does not work, I have done jumping jacks in front of of it to know avail. I am not bothering to call again about that because Kealan would probably get really mad again. He does NOT like his competence put into question. You decide if $249 is a fair markup on a $95 battery.

I highly recommend Alpha Gate & Door Company! The entire process was incredibly quick and professional! I spoke with Lisa (she’s amazing and extremely knowledgeable) on Tuesday and she came out Wednesday with a recommendation to replace the gate opener that was faulty and couldn’t handle the weight of my gate. I received the reasonable quote the same day and their technician, Keelan, was at my house on Friday of the SAME WEEK to install. Keelan was just as courteous and professional as Lisa and did an amazing job! The install was perfect and pristine! I’ve tried working with other companies and honestly they are hands down the best! If there were 10 stars available, I would give them 10!
Thank you Alpha team!

Alpha Gate & Door recently replaced our 3-gate system thats used by over 250 residents and visitors on a daily basis.

Terry was excellent in guiding us from the first visit to the final inspection, including his experiences on what to expect and where any likely issues would occur. With a large property, that was critical to avoiding problems that could pop up.

The crews, clean up and invoicing were all done professionally.

We would strongly recommend Alpha Gate & Door for your gate access needs.
